New LEGO Minecraft Sets Are Super Awesome (January & February)

New LEGO Minecraft Sets Are a Welcome Surprise

In my last few articles, I found myself complaining about new LEGO Pokémon and LEGO Editions themes, mainly because they focus heavily on premium priced sets that are not easy to justify buying.

So this time, I wanted to talk about a LEGO theme that has surprised me recently in a very positive way: LEGO Minecraft. More specifically, I have been most impressed with the new LEGO Minecraft sets for 2026 so far. The lineups coming out has been consistently good. The sets look creative, nostalgic, and fun, while still remaining affordable.

Why These New Sets Works So Well

Part of why LEGO Minecraft works so well is because Minecraft itself is one of the least rigid games ever made. There is no fixed path, no correct way to build, and no pressure to make something impressive. It is creative in the most personal way possible, and that philosophy is something LEGO coincidentally seems to share with this theme.

Because Minecraft is already blocky by nature, these sets do not feel overly LEGO-ified. Even the smaller builds do not need complex sculpting to feel accurate. Their reference points, Minecraft items and mobs, are already made of cubes, so realism can come from shape, color, and placement rather than a large piece count.

That is why the new LEGO Minecraft sets feel so natural. One trait I especially love is how easily these builds can be placed alongside other LEGO Minecraft sets on a display shelf, much like building in Creative Mode in Minecraft. They slot in effortlessly and feel like they expand an existing world rather than trying to redefine it.

World Building and Storytelling at a Small Scale

For example, placing The TNT Jungle House (21275) next to the newly released Zombie Dungeon (21587) creates instant storytelling. One set includes Steve, a diamond sword, a TNT house, and a boat for escape, while the other introduces an armored zombie, slime, and lava closing in on him.

There are also fun play features there, such as triggering an explosion in the TNT house or sliding a switch to cause a rockfall in the Zombie Dungeon that drops zombies below. There is a lot of play packed into these sets, and lots of room for imagination, especially considering both retail for $29.99.

Affordable, Without Feeling Small

The average price of the nine new LEGO Minecraft sets released across January and February 2026 totals up to $32.5 with prices ranging from $9.99 to $64.99.

What surprised me most was how accessible and easy to jump into these small-to-medium sized sets are, yet how immersive they feel. Normally, environmentally focused storytelling is reserved for larger, display-focused sets, but here it exists at a non-premium price.

None of these sets feel like rushed or obligatory releases made just to meet a quantity quota. Instead, they successfully lean into what Minecraft does best: quiet storytelling through biomes, exploration, and mobs. You can almost picture the in-game situation immediately, or imagine exactly where each build would sit in your existing Minecraft world save and how it might evolve once you start rebuilding it your own way.
