Some LEGO sets are all about scale. Others are about complexity. And then there are those rare ones that quietly sneak up on you, gently poke you in the emotions, and suddenly you’re emotionally invested in two robots holding hands.
The LEGO Disney WALL-E and EVE 43279 set is very much that kind of build.
With 811 pieces, four beloved characters, and a surprising amount of articulation packed into a relatively compact footprint, this set is less about flashy gimmicks and more about charm, character, and clever design.
Set Details:
Set name: LEGO Disney WALL-E and EVE
Set number: 43279
Piece count: 811
Minifigures: None (brick-built characters)
Characters included: WALL-E, EVE, M-O, Hal (cockroach), plus the plant in a boot
Target audience: Display-focused fans, Pixar lovers, adult LEGO builders
No minifigures here — and honestly, none are missed.
The Build Experience: Relaxed, Rewarding, and Surprisingly Smart
This isn’t a frantic, brain-melting build. The LEGO Disney WALL-E and EVE 43279 set settles into a comfortable rhythm that mixes Technic, SNOT, and curved shaping techniques without ever feeling overwhelming.
One thing you’ll notice quickly: there are a lot of small bags, and a lot of small pieces. For a set of this size, it almost feels like LEGO could have made it with alot less than 811 pieces, In fact – many sets around this size might hover closer to half the piece count. Instead, this build leans hard into micro construction, stacking thin plates, tiny connectors about a centimeter long and wide connected by compact assembly layers
That can be a good or very bad thing, depending on what you enjoy as a builder.
If you like builds that feel complete, whole, and deeply satisfying, where every small piece contributes to the final form, this set feels excellent.
If you find small-piece-heavy builds with no quick payoff a bit tedious, this one may test your patience at times.
Expect:
Clean instruction flow
Plenty of clever moments
Zero stickers — everything is printed
Build time lands somewhere around a relaxed afternoon, with enough variety to keep things interesting but not so much complexity that you lose sleep frowning over completing it.
WALL-E: A Boxy Robot with Personality
WALL-E absolutely steals the show here.
Despite being smaller than earlier LEGO versions of the character, this model is packed with expression and movement:
Fully articulated arms with clever internal engineering
Opening chest compartment (yes, the junk cube fits inside)
Rolling treads with unique thin wheel elements
Posable neck and expressive printed eyes
Those wheels deserve a special mention. WALL-E’s treads use a type of small, thin rolling element that you rarely see in LEGO sets, especially at this scale. They roll smoothly against surfaces and even LEGO bricks themselves, giving WALL-E a very distinctive feel when you move him around.
The weathered look — scratches, warning stripes, industrial details — does a fantastic job of selling WALL-E’s “last robot on Earth” vibe. The iconic Shape, colours, and perfect proportions immerses you straight back to nostalgia of watching the classic movie while you’re in the middle of the build.
What really elevates WALL-E, though, is the expressiveness. He can slightly extend his neck, tilt his head, and move his eyes closer together and downward to create a sad, vulnerable expression, just like his sad moments in the movie that made it so memorable.
He feels sturdy, poseable, and full of heart.
EVE: Smooth, Sleek, and Cleverly Engineered
EVE is the type of character that seems difficult to recreate in LEGO form. Curved outlines are not exactly what LEGO is know for— and yet, LEGO does a genuinely admirable job here.
Highlights include:
Clean sculpted silhouette using curved slopes and plates
Retractable arms that tuck neatly into the body
Ball-joint articulation for posing
A front panel that opens to store the iconic plant-in-a-boot
Mounted on a transparent stand to simulate hovering, EVE quickly elevates the display presence. Shape and colour accuracy are spot-on, and she immediately reads as her on-screen counterpart.
Her head movement is a real standout. The way it’s engineered allows it to tilt and turn with a gentle self-centering motion, almost like a Funko Pop — move it slightly up, down, or twist it to the side, and it naturally settles back into place. It’s a small detail, but it adds a surprising amount of playfulness and personality that replicates what we see from EVE in the movie.
The only real limitation is a single facial expression. The cheerful eyes are as good as it gets works for a single expression, but I would have loved more.
M-O and Hal: Bonus Small Builds
It would’ve been easy for LEGO to stop at the flagship characters — but thankfully, they didn’t.
M-O is a cute little build with printed eyes, movable arms, and a spinning cleaning roller. He’s compact, expressive, and recognisable.
Hal the cockroach is tiny, but his inclusion feels like a wink to fans.
Playability & Interaction: Small Movements, Big Emotion
Despite being display-focused, this set has more playability than you might expect.
Both characters feature subtle but meaningful articulation. Slight movements of WALL-E’s eyes or EVE’s head dramatically change their expressions, making them feel alive rather than static models.
Their hands are also posable — and yes, they can hold each other’s hands, recreating the iconic scene from the movie. It’s a simple interaction, but it perfectly captures the emotional core of WALL-E.
Display Value: Quietly Excellent
This set shines on display.
WALL-E and EVE scale beautifully together, the neutral colour palette keeps things classy, and the poses naturally tell a story. Whether they’re standing side-by-side or angled toward each other, the display potential is strong.
It’s compact enough for a shelf, desk, or bookcase, yet detailed enough to reward repeat glances.
Final Verdict: Is the LEGO Disney WALL-E and EVE 43279 Set Worth It?
The LEGO Disney WALL-E and EVE 43279 set gets the important things right: character, emotion, and thoughtful design. It’s a set that asks for a bit of patience, both in how it’s built and how its personality reveals itself. Rather than offering constant instant payoffs, it rewards builders who enjoy watching many small elements gradually come together into a complete, expressive whole.
Likewise, much of the character’s emotion comes from engineering and pose — conveyed through movement, proportion, and subtle features lifted straight from the movie, rather than bold, interchangeable face-swap options. For some builders, that restraint may feel limiting — but for others, it makes the experience feel more authentic and intentional.
This isn’t a set chasing size, spectacle, or instant gratification. It’s aiming for something quieter: atmosphere, connection, and heart. And on those terms, it succeeds beautifully.
