LEGO Heihei 43272 Set Review: Disney’s Colorful and Chaotic Chicken Goes LEGO

If you ever needed proof that a blocky chicken can be adorable, the LEGO Heihei 43272 set proves it. Straight out of  Moana universe, this brick-built rooster takes one of animation’s most confused sidekicks and turns him into a nicely polished model that’s great for display.

Heihei does not know where he is, what he’s doing, or what’s going on, but LEGO’s designers absolutely knew what they were doing when coming up with him. They did an awesome job with this one.

Quick Facts: LEGO Heihei 43272 Set

  • Set name: LEGO Disney Heihei

  • Set number: 43272

  • Pieces: 566

  • Age rating: 9+

  • Theme: LEGO Disney

  • Release: March 2025

Build Experience: Colourful, Clever, but Fiddly

The build process for the LEGO Heihei 43272 set leans heavily into small elements, layered colours, and subtle shapes. You’ll work with lots of those tiny 1×1 tiles, but also with a bunch of slope, curved pieces, and rounded plates — which makes the build visually rewarding, but fiddly too due to the lack of support base for certain sections.

That said, building all that never feels dull.

The constant colour changes keep things engaging throughout. Some sections place complementary colours side by side, while others slowly transition from lighter shades into darker ones until they become an entirely different colour altogether. This is especially noticeable along Heihei’s long neck and body, where LEGO recreates his famously rainbow-like feathers. It’s the kind of build where you pause halfway through just to admire how weirdly good it’s already looking.

The long neck and the weird head are clear highlights of the build. They’re what give this chicken its personality and make it feel truly unique, all while also being the most fun parts to put together.

Design & Accuracy: Somehow Perfectly Heihei

Let’s be honest… Heihei isn’t traditionally “cute,” but he has his own strange charm. Translating that into LEGO without losing personality is a challenge, and this set nails.

  • The wide-eyed expression is picture perfect (movie accurate)

  • The chaotic colors feels intentional, not random

  • The proportions strike a perfect balance between cartoonish and sculptural

The feathers, in particular, deserve praise. LEGO uses layered plates and slopes to create texture that actually reads as soft feathers from a distance — no small feat when working with bricks.

It’s vibrant, ridiculous, and exactly like how Heihei should be!

Articulation & Display: Built for the Shelf, Not the Floor

This is very much a display-first model, and LEGO is upfront about that.

  • Posable elements: head rotation, wings, tail feathers

  • Fixed elements: legs and neck

There’s enough articulation to add character without compromising stability. The legs are slim, accurate, but delicate. This isn’t a set you’ll want kids swooshing around the house like minifigures.

Heihei stands on a decorative tropical micro-island base with leaves and flowers, complete with a printed nameplate — no stickers here, which always earns bonus points from me. You can remove him from the stand, but he looks most confident when displayed on it.

Parts & Colour Value: Quietly Excellent

Beyond the character itself, the LEGO Heihei 43272 set is a sneaky win for parts lovers.

  • Rare and unusual recolours

  • A genuinely cool and unique curved 1×1 element

  • Tons of bright pieces that stand out in any parts bin

Even if Heihei isn’t your favourite Disney character, or even if you don’t know him at all the parts selection alone gives this set a level of appeal you don’t often get from LEGO character builds as such.

Final Verdict: A Display Set With Actual Personality

The LEGO Heihei 43272 set succeeds because it fully embraces what makes the character memorable: chaos, colour, all while having no thoughts behind those fat eyes.

It’s:

  • Fun

  • Funny

  • Surprisingly elegant as a display piece

This isn’t just a novelty Disney set, it’s a well-designed LEGO sculpture that happens to be a deeply confused chicken named Heihei.

If you’re a Moana fan, a Disney collector, or just someone who appreciates a unique, weird LEGO set, Heihei deserves a spot on your shelf.

Final Rating: ⭐ 4.5 / 5
